When I first moved closer to my husband, we were engaged at the time, I wanted to have a bulldog. He said that if I really wanted one, that now would be the time to get her or him. Needless to say I have three of them and you will meet each one. My first day with Dottie, I cried because I had no clue what to do. I see people all the time with dogs and I really wanted one, but I did not know what they needed other than food, water and love. It was not until Dottie came that I realized the work involved in taking care of a dog. Billy would call me on his breaks to see how we were doing. He even gave me some tips on what to do with her. After about five minutes, she was sound asleep. When she sleeps she snores and it is so cute that my husband and I usually laugh at her. She hogs the entire cage at night and lays on her back and snores away. We have given her the nickname of lil'piggy. She weighs about fifty pounds. I can't lift her into the bathtub to give her a bath, my husband has to. When the other dogs came, Billy put a run for them up and I could sit outside and watch them play.
She has her own personality. If she does not want to do something, she won't do it. She really likes it when I put on some music and we dance to it. Ok, maybe not dancing, but I do move to the music and so does she. It gets her excited to where she jumps up and down on me begging for more. Not all the dogs are like her and slowly you will meet each one of them. Dottie is two years old and by the way she acts you would think she was a puppy. When she gets really excited, she will gallop around and it sounds like a herd of cows when she does it.
One thing about Dottie is she loves to give kisses, if I am sitting in a chair, she will jump up and start licking my arm, the back of my arm, and my leg. She also likes it when I rub behind her ears, in some ways, it puts her to sleep. She likes her belly rubbed but not all the time.
I love my Dottie, she has been a blessing to me, all the dogs have been. I don't see my life without them. They are not just dogs, they are my friends and each one is special in their own way.
